INSPIRE Scholarship - SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION (SHE)

Submission of Application for the “SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION (SHE)” - a component of the `Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)’.

Call for Applications under SHE

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for `Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE)’, a component of INSPIRE. Total of 10,000 scholarships are available annually under SHE starting April 2008. The scholarships are limited only to the candidates studying courses in natural/ basic sciences at B.Sc., B.Sc (Hons), integrated M.Sc./MS programs in any one of the recognized institutions in India. The scheme in its current format does not include courses in engineering, medicine, technology and other professional / applied science courses.

Value & Type of Support

Eligible candidates will receive annually scholarship @ total value Rs.80,000 per candidate. The cash value payable to the SHE scholarship holder is Rs.60,000 per annum along with a summer time attachment fee of Rs.20,000 will be paid to the mentoring institution for undertaking summer time project

Duration of the Support

Selected candidates will be supported for a maximum period of five years starting 1st year course in B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons) and integrated course leading to M.S. or M.Sc. or the completion of the course, which ever is earlier. Continuation of the scholarship for once selected candidates is based on performance of the examinations conducted and certified by the institution imparting education.


Eligibility Criteria

The selection of candidates will be based on a) performance in Board Examinations within the cutoff threshold (of top 1%) for each State or Central Board Examination Class XII level as listed in Table 1 and/or b) performance in any of the specified Competitive Examinations within stipulated cut off ranks (Table 2) and recipient of various fellowships and medals (Table 3). Student who passed Class XII Board Examination in 2011 and are in receipt of Eligibility Certificate/ Note issued by the respective Board are also eligible to apply. The eligible candidate must be already enrolled into degree level education in natural / basic sciences in any recognized College or University in India. Student’s Need to do

Interested and eligible candidates (as per Table 1 for Board examination based eligibility or as per Table 2 or Table 3 for Competitive Examination based eligibility or passed Class XII Board Examination in 2011 having Eligibility Certificate/ Note issued by the respective Board) must apply in the prescribed format written preferable in English & Hindi only. Attach attested copy of i) Certificate of Class X Board Examination for verification of Date of Birth, ii) Mark sheets of Class XII Board Examination, iii) Copy of the Eligibility Certificate/ Note for students passed in 2011 and iv) Endorsement Certificate from Principal of the College/ Director or Registrar of the Institute or University where the applicant is presently enrolled.

Applicants both offline & on-line, must submit Hardcopy of the duly filled-in application with all necessary documents to the Director, National Institute of Science, Technology & Development Studies (NISTADS), Dr K S Krishnan Marg , New Delhi - 110012 by Ordinary Post only within 90 days from the date of this advertisement in Newspaper.

The envelope should mention on top “Application for INSPIRE Scholarship for 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011” program.

Students who have applied earlier including 3rd April 2011 announcement on INSPIRE Scholarship & waiting for result, need not to make any fresh application now.

Bursary admission period: For commencement in 2012

Bursary conditions:
1. Proof of citizenship or permanent residency of a country included in the ‘bursary region’
The bursary is not transferrable to another Chisholm course or to another student
2. Acceptance in a ‘bursary study area’ 2 year course for the ‘bursary admission period’
3. The student must maintain satisfactory progression and attendance throughout the duration of the course
4. The bursary is not redeemable for a full or partial cash refund
5. No deferments permitted. Deferments due to additional English training are accepted.
6. Students must ensure they pay the balance of their tuition fees by the due date
7. Students must maintain satisfactory academic progression
Bursary value:
Each bursary recipient will be awarded a total of AUD$10,000. a
AUD$5,000 to be allocated to first year fees. AUD$5,000 applied to second year fees upon confirmation of meeting the bursary conditions
Bursary Selection Criteria:
The following criteria will be used to determine bursary allocation. The primary selection criteria is academic merit. Only applicants with a high level of academic achievement should apply.

GIA now offers scholarships during two application periods each year for its Gemology and Jewelry Manufacturing Arts programs, courses, and Lab classes – March 1 through April 30 and June 15 through October 30.
Applications for scholarship awards that can be applied toward programs, courses, and Lab classes in the upcoming calendar year (2012) will be accepted June 15 through October 30.
